Sitting in someone else’s recently spit out gum will surely ruin a good time. But don’t panic, Go Green Services are here to help! We offer you not one, not two, but three incredible ways to remove gum from your clothing, and this supremely valuable information comes to you at the low cost of absolutely free!
Method 1: Freezing
a) Place the gum-ridden garment into a plastic bag, with the gum facing upwards, and optimally not sticking to the inside of the bag.
b) Allow to freeze overnight, or a minimum of 3-4 hours.
c) Remove bag and garment from freezer, and promptly douse in gasoline and light on fire. Haha, just kidding. Grab a knife and peel that pesky gum off as fast as you can.
d) If you haven’t already figured this out, don’t just your sharpest hunting knife, just stick with a butter knife or something dull.
Method 2: Boiling
a) Submerge the garment and gum, or just the gum-infested area in very hot water.
b) While submerged, use a dull knife or toothbrush to scrub off the gum.
c) Keep scrubbing the gum while in the boiling water. Alternatively, add some salt to make gum and garment soup.
d) Or, if you have a kettle, place the gum-infested area over the mouth of the kettle while boiling water and let the steam heat up the gum and scrape the gum off in one direction with a dull knife.
Method 3: Rubbing Alcohol
a) Use this method for delicate fabrics, as rubbing alcohol will not stain or remove colours from fabrics.
b)Grab an old rag or sponge and pour a little rubbing alcohol on it. Don’t drink the alcohol because you will go blind, and this will make the remainder of this process much more difficult.
b) Rub the evil gum with the alcohol soaked thing. Wait a couple minutes for the gum to become infused with the alcohol.
c) Use a spatula or something to gently remove the gum.
d) Soak the area with scented fabric softener, then wash and dry.
