Lemon, the delicious additive that most people use in their water or even to make lemonade, but have you ever tried to use lemon to clean with? Lemon acid is a natural antiseptic and is wonderful to use to clean; there are many different places this citrus fruit can assist you.
Have a microwave with a nasty stink to it? Fill up a bowl with water and place half a lemon in the bowl, microwave for about five minutes and your stinky problems will be gone. No harmful chemicals and no scrubbing.
Typical store bought stain removers have so many toxic chemicals in them I would be afraid to use them especially on the kids’ clothes, next time you have a tough stain (no matter where it is) try squeezing fresh lemon juice onto the stain and placing it in the sun for a bit, watch the stain disappear.
If you have wood furniture you know how important a proper care routine is to keep your wood looking great, but I bet you didn’t know by adding ½ cup of lemon juice to warm water and spraying it on a damp cloth then wiping your furniture will polish it up quickly and easily.
When you mix 1 tablespoon of lemon juice with 2 tablespoons of salt you have yourself a wonderful rust removing paste, go ahead try it!
The one thing I can’t stand about cooking fish is the horrible smell left behind, take a lemon and cut it in half then rub it all over your hands and the cutting board, follow this with a good wash with soap and water and the fishy smell is gone.
If you have copper or brass that needs cleaning you can cut a lemon in half and sprinkle salt onto the lemon. Rub the lemon onto the copper or brass until all the tarnish is gone. Take note those copper bottom pots and pans need occasional cleaning to ensure they are working properly.
