Make Your Own Natural Granite Cleaner

Granite counter tops can add value and elegance to your home, but how on earth do you clean them? First, you want to be sure you use a non-abrasive cleaner. I personally recommend a natural “green” cleaner. Besides being healthier for you and your family, natural  cleaners are better for your granite counter tops, the environment and of course your wallet — making your own cleaner is much cheaper!

When deciding what type of cleaner to make for your granite counter tops, remember granite and stone do not care for acidic cleaners, so avoid using lemon and lemon essential oils in your cleaners, and avoid vinegar as well. Using citrus or vinegar can cause an “etching” on your granite counter tops, effectively ruining them.

Here is a very simple recipe  for a solution that you can use to clean your granite counter tops in a “green” way and that will also not harm the granite and will not leave streaks on your counter tops.

You Will Need:

• ¼ cup rubbing alcohol

• 3 drops of a natural dish soap

• 5-10 drops of your favorite essential oil (No citrus) I prefer Lavender, Tea Tree, & Four Thieves oils. Tea Tree & Four Thieves are natural anti-microbial and anti-bacterial so they will keep germs away.

• Water

• 16 ounce Spray Bottle

Directions:

• Pour your rubbing alcohol into your spray bottle, add the dish or castile soap, essential oils, and fill the rest of the way with plain old water and simply shake to mix it all up. (Be sure to shake before each use to mix everything well)
